 About Emily

Emily Statton Smith has deep roots Midland, where she attended Hillander School, San Jacinto Junior High, and Midland High School. Her MISD education helped her become a National Merit Scholar and earn a full scholarship to Texas A&M University, followed by a Dean’s Scholarship to Baylor Law School. She credits her Midland ISD education with launching her successful legal career.

She met her husband, Stuart, at a lawyer event in Dallas. They married in 2012 and settled in Midland, where Stuart runs his own law firm. The couple has twin daughters, Sabrina and Sylvie, who attend Hillander School and Fannin Elementary.

After working as Associate General Counsel at Pioneer Natural Resources, she recently accepted a position at Exxon, and looks forward to doing her best to ensure that Exxon maintains Pioneer’s legacy of community support and engagement.

Emily recognizes the value of public education and wants to help MISD continue to provide excellent education and opportunities for future generations.
